Dog Friendly Parks

Off-leash dog parks like Ocean City Dog Playground include separate areas for large and little dogs, it’s located on 94th street. The park is open every day from dawn till dusk. Northside Park in OC also offers pet -friendly trails throughout but dogs must be leashed.

Assateague Island, Berlin's Assateague National Seashore allows dogs on the beach, but they are not allowed on the nature trails or anyplace else on the Virginia portion of the island. Dogs must always be kept on a six-foot leash.

Dogs are welcome in Fenwick Island State Park, which has a designated area for off-leash play. It’s located in Fenwick Island at 14998 Coastal Highway. The park is open all year long.

Gulls Way Campground. Located at 31694 Gulls Way Road near Frankford, just west of Fenwick Island, this dog park provides a fenced-in area for dogs to play off-leash although the camp doesn’t allow for Pitt Bulls and Rottweilers.

A licensed off-leash dog park with agility equipment is available at the Bethany Beach Nature Center, which is situated at 807 Garfield Parkway in Bethany Beach. The park is accessible during the day.

Ocean View, Delaware's James Farm Ecological Preserve is a destination that welcomes pets. This neighborhood ecological park has a beach on the bay, as well as hiking routes. If your dog is well-behaved and any messes are cleaned up after, feel free to bring them along on a leash.

Lewes Canal front Park. This park, which can be found at 211 Front Street in Lewes, has a fenced-in area where dogs can run free. From dawn till dusk, the park is accessible.

These are only a handful of the several dog parks and places that welcome our fury friends in the Ocean City, Fenwick, Bethany, and Lewes area. When taking your beloved pet to a park, make sure to review the rules and guidelines as some beach areas don’t allow pets between the months of May 1 to September 30.
