Bluefish: These fish can be caught in the surf and typically appear in Delmarva waters in the springtime.
Tautog: This species, commonly referred to as blackfish, is caught around jetties and other nearby structures, such as artificial reefs.
Summertime (June to August)
Flounder: During the summer, flounder can be captured in the surf, particularly during the incoming tides when they approach the coastline to feed.
Spotted Seatrout: During the summer season, inlets and nearshore seas are a good place to catch this particular species.
Fall (September to November)
Striped Bass or Rockfish: As they migrate south to escape the cold, striped bass can be caught in the surf and around the inlet areas in the fall.
Bluefish: In the fall, they can be caught in the surf and in waters close to the coastline.
Winter (December to February)
Black Drum: This species, which is renowned for having a delicious flavor, can be caught in the surf all throughout the winter.
Red Drum: During the winter, this species is especially catchable near the beaches or waves.
Always check the local fishing reports and conditions before venturing out, keeping in mind that fishing conditions can change dramatically depending on factors like weather, water temperature and migration patterns.
